To learn well, our children and youth need to eat well. Nutrition plays a key role in the healthy development of our children and youth. Nutritious foods provide us with the energy needed to grow, feel well, be active, stay healthy and learn. March is Nutrition Month! This year's theme is "Take a 100 Meal Journey: Make Small Changes One Meal at a Time".
The topic of nutrition is addressed in many subject areas including Health, Physical Education, Personal Development Relationships (PDR), Family Studies, Physical Active Lifestyles and Career Life Management. With the support of students, staff and community volunteers, Breakfast Programs in schools provide a healthy and smart start to the school day. In addition, the Strait Regional School Board’s Health Promoting Schools Team works closely with schools on a number of health-related initiatives to support student learning as well as providing advice and resources.
