Mask Requirement Removed in Public Schools

Good Afternoon SRCE Families:

Today, Thursday, May 19, 2022, the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development announced the mask requirement in public schools will be removed beginning Tuesday, May 24, 2022. This announcement applies to school buses as well.

In addition, Becky Druhan, Minister of Education and Early Childhood Development said masks will continue to be recommended and those students, staff, visitors, volunteers and outside service providers who choose to wear a mask will be supported.  Masks and hand sanitizer will continue to be available to students and staff.

Staff, students and visitors are asked to please continue to follow core public health measures including:

  • getting vaccinated if eligible;
  • staying home if feeling unwell;
  • following the COVID-19 Daily Checklist; and
  • washing and sanitizing hands frequently.
