At the Akerley Campus, gold medals were earned by Mack Collasius (CBHEC/A) competing in “Cooking” and Gracie Glencross (DRJHG) competing in ‘baking”. These four provincial champs have earned the right to go on to compete at the National Skills Competition being held in Halifax on May 28 to 29, 2019.

These fantastic individual performances were not the only highlights from the provincial competition. The students from Dr. J.H. Gillis Regional High School are also winners as their school was selected as one of five to receive $10,000 worth of Dewalt Stanley Black and Decker tools to augment their Technology Education programs!

As the Nova Scotia Skills Competition website points out, the Competition provides opportunities for youth to explore skilled trades and technologies, enhance their skills, and strive for excellence in a chosen field.
