Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board: Notice of Public Hearing Regarding the Confirmation of Board Electoral Districts for SRSB

The Strait Regional School Board has made application to the Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board under The Education Act to confirm the number of school board members and electoral districts and to amend the boundaries of the electoral districts.  The hearing has been scheduled for Tuesday, June 7, 2016, at 3:00 p.m.  For more information, please access the following link:

SRSB Celebrates Speech and Hearing Month

May is Speech and Hearing Month.  Each year, Speech-Language and Audiology Canada (SAC) dedicates the month of May to raising public awareness about communication disorders and the professionals who can help.  Speech-Language Pathologists are highly-trained professionals who are focused on the prevention, identification and management of communication disorders.  Many of us take our ability to communicate for granted.  Yet the ability to speak, hear and be heard is much more vital to our everyday lives than most of us realize.

Strait Regional Heritage Fair 2016: Showcasing History and Culture

It's that time of year again for young historians in the Strait Region to attend the Strait Regional Heritage Fair. During the past several months, Grades 4 to 9 students presented their projects at local school fairs. Those students selected to participate in the 18th annual Strait Regional Heritage Fair are now busy putting the final touches to their projects. The Fair is scheduled for Friday, May 6, 2016, at the Mulgrave Memorial Education Centre. The awards ceremony will be held at 2:45 p.m.

Students in the Strait Regional School Board Participate in Nova Scotia Skills Competition: Cape Breton Highlands Education Centre/Academy Students Bring Home a Gold, Silver and Bronze Award

During the month of April, 18 students from Cape Breton Highlands Education Centre/Academy, Dalbrae Academy, Dr. J.H. Gillis Regional High School and Chedabucto Education Centre/Guysborough Academy competed in the Nova Scotia Skills Competition at the Strait, Akerley and Waterfront campuses of the Nova Scotia Community College (NSCC).  The students competed in the categories of Baking, Job Search, Carpentry, Photography, TV / Video Production, Welding and Workplace Safety.

Strait Regional Science Fair 2016: Celebrating and Showcasing Student Creativity and Innovation

It's that time of year again for young scientists in the Strait Region. The Strait Regional Science Fair 2016 will be celebrated from April 5 to 7, 2016, at the Port Hawkesbury Civic Centre.  On Tuesday, April 5, 2016, the public is invited to view the grades 3-6 projects from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. and the grades 7 to 12 projects from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.  Both viewings will be held at the Civic Centre.  The Awards Ceremony will be held on Thursday, April 7, 2016, 7:00 p.m. at the SAERC Auditorium.
