October 1 is Treaty Day and marks the beginning of Mi'kmaq History Month in Nova Scotia. Throughout the year, and especially in October, teachers incorporate a variety of educational activities in their classroom instruction to highlight the connection of our past to today and how this information shapes our understanding of our shared history. In addition, schools organize activities to enhance Treaty Education.

Today has been an exciting day for our children, students, families and staff, and from all reports we’re off to a great start to the school year in the Strait Region!
The Strait Regional Centre for Education invites children, students, families, staff, volunteers and community partners to celebrate Stand Up Against Bullying Day on Thursday, September 9, 2021, and show our support of safe school communities by wearing pink.
The SRCE and all schools are now using a new messaging system. This new system requires action from parents/guardians if you wish to continue to receive text messages from your child’s school and the SRCE.
The 2021-2022 school start dates are:
